When designing a printed product, the resolution must be set to 300 pixels/inch. It should be noted that the size must be set first and then the resolution. Otherwise, the size will be small and the resolution will be useless if the resolution is increased, so you need to confirm it before designing. Resolution and size, otherwise the picture will become blurred if you increase it after the design is completed.
Bleeding (margin) is generally set to 3mm when designing printed matter. The size of the bleeding must be taken into consideration when designing the printed matter, because the printed product will be cut in 2mm-3mm in the later stage to ensure the aesthetics of the work.
When designing prints, the color mode needs to be set to CMYK mode, and CMYK color mode is used for the presentation of print images.
CMYK is also called the printing color mode. It is composed of four color inks of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. The usage amount of each ink ranges from 0% to 100%. Since the three CMY inks cannot form pure black in printing, separate inks are required. Black ink K, thus forming a colorant mode of CMYK. The larger the amount of ink, the heavier and darker the color; on the contrary, the smaller the amount of ink, the brighter the color. CMYK is 0% is white, 100% is black.
Printed fonts: Nowadays, the commonly used fonts for printing Chinese characters include Ximing, Song Ti, Kai Ti, Xianhei, etc. When designing prints, try to avoid using too thin fonts. If the font size is too small, it is easy to not print or the fonts look unclear.
The text is generally used: Song Ti, Shu Song, Imitation Song
The first level headings are usually used: Big Black, Big Biao Song, Small Biao Song
Secondary headings are usually used: Songhei, Kaiti, Heiti
Printing font size: The actual size of the printed text is different from the size we see on the screen. Some designers with insufficient printing knowledge, in order to pursue beautiful layout, used too small font size when designing works, and found that they could not be seen in actual printing. They thought it was a problem with the printing factory. This is the consequence of lack of printing knowledge.
The printed text varies from large to small, and the font size of Chinese characters in typesetting and image processing software is currently mainly used for printing-specific font size and point systems.
Different printed materials have a preference for font size. For example, when there are many texts in the design of albums, it is recommended that the headline be larger than font size 3, the subtitle should be smaller than font size 4, and the inner text should be smaller than font size 6. The line spacing is generally adopted. 1.5 times the line spacing.
It is recommended that the text size for manual printing or picture book printing should not be smaller than 7-point font, too small will affect the reading and printing quality.
Letterpress printing: The ink is about 90% expressive, with rich colors. Strong color reproducibility. Strong page tolerance. The number of prints is huge. The application range of paper is wide, and materials other than paper can also be printed. Generally used in a large number of printed materials, such as color magazines and popular building materials printing and so on.
Gravure printing (tobacco labels, wine labels, instant noodle pockets, sugar paper and other printing quality requirements are high, printing large quantities are more commonly used in this printing method)
Offset printing (this process is widely used and the quality process is stable, such as newspapers, books, packaging, PVC, stickers)
Screen printing (According to the printing characteristics, the quantity that can be printed is small, dozens of sheets can be printed, and the shape of the printing plate can be changed
There are many types of printed materials, and their use requirements and printing methods are different. Therefore, designers must choose the corresponding paper according to the use needs and the requirements and characteristics of the printing process.
In terms of use, it can be simply divided into commonly used printing paper and art paper (also known as fancy paper). Commonly used printing papers include Daolin paper, book paper, matte paper and coated paper, etc., and text books mostly use Daolin paper and Matte paper and coated paper are mostly used for book paper and picture albums.
When designing a printed work, we must not only consider the combination of image, text, color and other elements, but also whether the designed work can be realized by printing.
